Dear Students,

The Final Exam of Data Networks will be on Friday, July 24th.
All students who passed the MCQ and the midterm exam can register for the final exam.
Registration is via the system of your studies (LSF for most of you).

Please register on time according to the regulations of your specific study program, e.g., registration in LSF is currently possible, and the deadline is July 17th.
If you have problems with registration, the examination office for your specific program is normally the first point of contact.

If you have no system to register (e.g., Erasmus students), send us an email with your information to the mailing list to register by July 17th, 18:00 CEST.

Dear students,

Next week’s tutorials (15.06–19.06) will focus on the midterm exam. Please note that the exam solutions will not be published, so the tutorial discussion will be your opportunity to review the solutions and ask questions.

Although you have been assigned to a specific tutorial group, you may attend any tutorial if space is available. The online tutorials generally have higher capacity. If a session fills up, priority will be given to students assigned to that tutorial.

The registration for the midterm exam ends today,27.05.2026, at 18:00 CEST.  Please ensure that you register before the deadline!!!

As announced, the midterm exam is in-person and will take place next week, Friday, 05.06.2026, starting at 14:00 (Setup) and 14:30 (Working time).
A re-exam will only be offered in case of illness (requires documents) at the time the midterm exam took place.

Note sheet:

• You are allowed to bring a note sheet to the midterm exam.
• You are allowed one sheet, A4 or smaller, with information on both sides.
• The note sheet has to be handwritten and can not be printed or photocopied.

Additional Information:

• Bring your student ID and an official ID document (ID card, passport, driver's license, ...) to the midterm. We will check these documents.
• You are not allowed to write in green or red or use pencils.
• No auxiliary material besides the note sheet is allowed (including technical devices and calculators).

Further information, e.g., room assignments, will be provided before the exam.

• You have to register in CMS until Wednesday, 27.05.2026 18:00 CEST.
• You can only register for the midterm if you passed the MCQ.

Dear Students,

The exam inspection of the MCQ test will be on Friday, 08.05.2026, directly after the lecture ends (~15:45 or 15:30) in the Lecture Hall (HS 002 E1.3).
We will ask you to leave the lecture hall and let you back in with badges to inspect your exam if you want to review it.

You have to bring your student ID and an official ID document to see your exam. During the Exam inspection, you are not allowed to have any electronic devices with you or talk to each other (e.g., leave your phone and backpack in the front).

Dear Students,

We finished the correction of the Multiple Choice Test and published the results.
The test is only pass/fail (no grades, no bonus). As announced, passing the test is a requirement for writing the Midterm and, thus, for writing the Final Exam.

If you did not pass the test, you can still participate in lectures and tutorials (if space is available), but not write the remaining exams and get grade points.

A voluntary exam inspection will take place soon, and we will follow up shortly with detailed information regarding the schedule.

Dear Students,

The Multiple Choice Test is approaching (Tuesday, 28.04.2026). The following message contains important information.

1. Bring your student ID and an official ID document (ID card, passport, driver's license, ...) to the Multiple Choice Test. We will check these documents.
2. The test will start at 08:30 CEST. You can enter the room at 08:20 CEST and find your assigned seat. Please be at your assigned room on time so we can start on time.
3. The working time will be 45 minutes. Given the comparably short working time and the need to check your IDs, no toilet breaks or early submissions will be allowed to not disturb anybody.
4. No auxiliary material is allowed, which includes calculators.
5. You are not allowed to write in green or red or use pencils.

Rooms are divided based on Matriculation Numbers:
    Geb. E2 2, Günter-Hotz-Hörsaal:    Numbers:  2560076 to 7076165 (inclusive)
    Geb. E1 3,  002:                                  Numbers:  7076166 to 7090253 (inclusive)       

You will find your assigned seat according to the list posted on the doors of the lecture rooms.  In your seat, you will find your personalized assignment. Therefore, do not use any other seat. If you are unsure, please contact a tutor outside the hall before you enter the hall or in the hall afterwards.

Hi all,

We distributed all participants to tutorials based on their preferences.

As mentioned, there is only a certain capacity for tutorial spots.  We assigned the tutorials based on preferences, but not all preferences might be satisfied.
Thus, you might have been assigned to a Waiting List. We then offer another special online tutorial on Thursday (April 23) at 10 AM (Zoom links TBA soon).
Therefore, everybody has the chance to attend the first tutorial before the MCQ.

If you can't attend your assigned tutorial slot, please unregister from the tutorial to provide spots for others. You can also try to find somebody to swap with.

Furthermore, we experienced that sometimes students do not show up to their assigned tutorials. Thus, if space is available, you can join.

After the MCQ, tutorials might be reassigned if capacity is available.

Registration for the Multiple Choice Test is now open.

Please ensure that you register before the deadline (April 21, 2026, 18:00), as late registrations cannot be accepted. This policy is in place to ensure fairness for all students, and no exceptions can be made.

The fixed deadline is necessary to allow the DN Team sufficient time to organize the test, including preparing seating plans and printing materials.

The first exercise sheet is now available. The solutions will be discussed during the tutorial sessions.

Submitting your solutions is optional and does not contribute to your final grade. The points indicated on the exercise sheet are only meant to give you a rough idea of the expected workload.

We offer individual feedback on up to three submissions per student over the entire course. If you would like to receive feedback for this assignment, please make sure to submit your solution.

Deadline: Friday, April 17, 2026, at 23:59 (CEST)
